Can you really fall in love with a house or flat? We know the answer is a definite 'yes' because we've seen it happen so many times!
Although it's a different kind of love from the romantic kind, there are lots of similarities too. In the month that we celebrate Valentine's Day, we thought it would be a good idea to tell you how to navigate the waters of having a property love life...
The search
When you think about it, looking for a new home online really does have a lot in common with modern dating.
Using an app or website to find a suitable candidate means trawling through profiles, looking at photos and reading descriptions. Sound familiar? Well, anyone looking at a big property portal will recognise things - as will those doing a little online dating too!
Of course although they can paint a thousand words photos can also be, let's say politely, imaginative when it comes to who or what they portray. Likewise, the words whether a thousand or just a few, will have been written by someone who wants to stand out from the crowd.
Old school
Of course everything doesn't have to be done online, traditional tried and tested methods still work too.
Many real life romances still start when you catch someone's eye across a crowded room or get chatting to someone in a bar. Just the same, you could see a 'for sale' sign that grabs your interest or even catch a glimpse of a potential match as you walk past an estate agent's window.
There's plenty of ways that chance can play a part in falling in love! So what happens when you find one that could indeed be 'the one'?
A date or a viewing?
The next step yet again is very similar whether you've swiped right or found a property you like - you need to arrange a meeting in real life.
Viewing a property is a bit more formal than going on a date. You'll need to register with an estate agent and provide various bits of information to prove you're a potential buyer. And of course the agent will usually chaperone you when you got to meet your possible new home, not something that most people expect to happen on a date these days!
These similarities go further though - sometimes you'll see one that ticks a lot of boxes but just doesn't feel right, sometimes you'll find one that isn't 'your type' but you still fall for in a big way.
Are we still talking about property viewings?
