Prep your home for marketing photography in 3 simp

Looking to market your home? Then going that extra mile with photography is key. But prior to framing the perfect shot, there are steps you should take to show off your home to its maximum potential. Read on for our advice on how to get your home camera-ready in just 3 easy steps.

1) Do a deep clean
The camera never lies – so it’s best to make sure your house is looking spick and span prior to the photoshoot. Give kitchen appliances a thorough wipe, then move to the other rooms in the house, deep cleaning as you go. Trimming hedges and removing weeds from the garden is also recommended – trust us, the extra effort won’t go unnoticed on camera.
2) Prep the area
Next, it’s time to tidy the house. And when we say ‘tidy’, we don’t just mean putting items into an orderly fashion (though this is helpful too!); instead think about what you want – or don’t want – people to see in pictures of your house. Clear cars out of shot for the day and make sure bins and drying dishes are out of sight. It’s also worth depersonalising the space by removing pet toys and family photographs so potential buyers can envisage themselves in your home.
3) Style the space
Now the house is prepped, think about styling. You can work with the photographer on this, but if you want to get ahead, here are some tips. Set the dining table, bring flower bouquets into the bedroom and update the living area with interiors-themed coffee table books. These thoughtful touches will paint a welcoming picture on camera, engaging the attention of any buyer.
