Kinmel Bay is a seaside village in North-East Wales. Rhyl is just across the River Clwyd.

‘Kinmel' is derived from the Welsh name 'Cynmael'. Cyn means ‘former’ and ‘Mael means ‘Chief’ or ‘Prince’. However, it used to be called Foryd!

The Hammer Horror screenwriter/director Jimmy Sangster was born in Kinmel Bay.

Local attractions include Kinmel Bay Beach, also known as Sandy Cove. It’s popular with water sports lovers for windsurfing, paddling, canoeing, and swimming. The harbour is a pretty place and is ideal for fishing and yachting.

The Kinmel Dunes Nature Reserve has wheelchair accessible paths through an active dune landscape. You may even spot seals swimming nearby.

Y Morfa Leisure Centre is ideal for sporty types when the sea’s not appealing. It is also a Centre of Excellence for Junior Cricket, Table Tennis and Girls Football (U16).

There is an infant school that is rated excellent by OFSTED and a junior school rated adequate. Its close proximity to Rhyl means children can also attend one of the schools there, subject to catchment area.
