Estate agents in St Asaph
St Asaph is situated on the River Elwy and is one of the smallest cities in Britain. In Welsh, it's known as Llanelwy. Archaeologically, it is a site of international importance due to evidence of Neanderthals living there 225,000 years ago, the most north-western site in Eurasia for hominids.
The name comes from the disciple of a Scottish saint, Kentigern. He founded a community in 560 A.D. and left his disciple, Asaph, in charge enabling him to return to Scotland. The cathedral, known for being the smallest in Britain, is accompanied by several other places of worship. There are places of worship for the Church in Wales, Welsh Methodist, Baptist, Roman Catholic, and Welsh Presbyterian.
It is also the home of the first Welsh Bible, translated by Bishop William Morgan. This work is credited for saving the Welsh language from extinction. The Victorians erected a Gothic tower to commemorate its 300th anniversary.
North Wales International Music Festival is held in the city every year. St Asaph is known locally as 'The City of Music'. Other annual events include a wood-carving event, Woodfest Wales, in June, a charity walk in July and Gala Day in August.
